What this edition does—and does not—store.

Effective 17 September 2026.

Reading the website

This release has no advertising trackers or third-party embeds. Optional first-party product analytics require both operator activation and your opt-in in Settings. They record a random browser identifier (hashed on the server), UTC day, feature counts and followed-topic IDs for up to 100 days. They do not record question text, email or health data. Turning sharing off requests deletion of this browser’s metrics; if offline, deletion cannot complete until the service is reachable. Fonts, scripts and images are served with the website. Your hosting provider may keep standard server access logs such as IP address, request time and browser details; their retention is managed by the hosting account owner.

Your preferences

The light/dark display preference is saved in your browser’s local storage under ethernia-theme. Clear the site’s browser data to remove it. Search and filter choices appear in the page URL; those URLs may be included in ordinary server logs when loaded.

My Ethernia

Followed topics, saved research and your last-visit checkpoint are stored in this browser under ethernia-personal-v1. Session storage keeps the current visit’s comparison baseline. Local mode keeps preferences on this device. Connecting an optional account stores your email and research profile on this server for synchronization. Settings offers explicit local-data import, JSON export, history clearing and account deletion. Reading history records opened research links and dossier visits, not medical information. Streaks count days you open Pulse. Account data is retained until you delete it; operator backups may retain deleted data until their retention period ends. Sign-out clears the account profile from this browser. See Settings for service availability.

Offline reading

The Ethernia app stores public pages and assets on your device for offline reading. Clear this site’s browser data to remove saved pages and the offline worker. No personal health records or account details are stored by this feature.

Research notes

The correction-note tool generates a text file on your device. It does not transmit the form contents to Ethernia or create a server-side record. Avoid including medical records or other sensitive information.

Subscriptions and accounts

Optional passwordless email accounts require owner configuration before activation. Email addresses are used for sign-in codes. Notification preferences currently control the in-app inbox; push and email briefs are not delivered. No payments or health-data collection are enabled. Ask Ethernia’s evidence explorer runs locally. If the operator enables optional AI synthesis, signed-in users must explicitly choose to send their question and selected public evidence to OpenAI. Email, account profile and medical data are not included. OpenAI processes these requests under its API data policy; provider retention may apply. Your personal progress is visible in your profile. Optional product analytics are separate from account data and are disabled by default.

External research links

Source links lead to publishers, registries or research organisations with their own privacy policies. Visiting those sites is separate from reading Ethernia.

Contact availability

A public inbox has not yet been configured. The contact page states the current limitation. The site owner must add the responsible operator’s contact details before enabling any service that collects personal information.
